I worked out long ago the foods that work best with my body, mainly through trial and error and seeing how everything feels. The best feeling foods then resulted in easy weight loss, easy maintenance of my optimal weight, feeling amazingly healthy and no out of control cravings or binge eating because I was eating exactly what my body needed. Total bliss.
So to stay in this blissful state, I leave a whole lot of stuff out of my diet like sugar, grains, and most meat and stay as low carb as I can. As a result, I mostly cook at home; however sometimes you don’t feel like cooking (well for me that’s quite often – I have to be in the mood to cook) so at these times, take-away food is such a relief and a blessing. And you would think that with all the things I don’t eat, finding take-away food that keeps me on track would be difficult, but in fact the opposite is true.
I had a fantastic conversation with a friend Pam who has been overweight all of her adult life, tried everything to lose it as well, without success. She loves to exercise, drinks lots of water, is into alternative health and the Law of Attraction, is active, fun loving, gets out lots but still this is the one thing that has niggled her and her whole family actually, all their lives.
I remember these Bounty Bars from my childhood days and I think my mother was more into them than I. However given my sugar addiction, I remember hoeing into them as well. They were chocolatey, coconutty and chewy with a kind of fresh taste. So I thought it might be fun to ‘health-ify’ them.
Off I went to the net and low and behold I found a recipe on www.iquitsugar.com, which was an adaptation from the www.healthyeah.co.nz. All fantastic ingredients already and when there are so few ingredients, there is not much tweaking that can be done – or so I thought. Hold that thought!
